Quadruple - Helix - Strategy

Graphic representation of a quadruple helix running from left to right and ending in the four benefiting interest groups: End-User, Researcher, Company, Policymaker

End - User

End-Users in general benefit from the R&D&I projects in terms of a direct involvement and co-development possibility of technology and services (also in the regional context), which support a democratic principle.

Developed innovations are often directly linked to their daily life needs. (e.g. Telemonitoring Services and Health coaching in the regional context, Primary-Care-Service development,…). In almost all projects the later end-users (primary, secondary, tertiary) are included in the need definition, concept development, implementation and evaluation process – based on the ISO 13407 UCD approach.

Based on the prolida ethical approach the end-user and trial participant benefit in many cases also by the possibility of being early adopters of new technologies with special pricing. prolida LL uses project outcomes and research process also for knowledge transfer to (especially older) end-user groups and offers new perspectives on state of the art technologies and possible use cases.

Researcher

prolida offers researchers a valuable possibility to realize complex, multimodal co-design, evaluation and socio-economic-anchoring strategies within their research practice. prolida LL offers infra-structure, recruiting, ethical guidance, logistic-planning and research support.

Different researcher groups can therefore develop evaluations in a fast and well-structured way, overcoming the barriers of building up the described points, but benefiting from existing and ad-hoc (infra-) structures.

prolida offers a strong quadruple-helix network an follows an open innovation approach also concerning sharing research possibilities with regional and over-regional partners.

Company

The involved companies benefit from a clear thematic focus (AAL, AHA and SMART HEALTH) and the related network and variety of stakeholders, which often form sub-eco-systems.

The focus leads to complementary aims and motives within the living lab, which often leads to an increased engagement from different stakeholder groups.

Involved technology/service developments companies benefit from a clear way of need definition, over validation and complex evaluation, which is often the base for argumentative cues for business, market and payment processes. Companies can evaluate with early adopters and benefit from iterative development strategies. Many company partners do not have resources for accompanying, multi-disciplinary research activities and therefore need partners like prolida LL for realizing a complete lifecycle approach.

Policymaker

Policymakers define their benefit within prolida LL by getting a structured, independent and research-focused possibility to develop, evaluate and present new, innovative approaches in the thematic focus field in a regional context and at the same time following a democratic, citizen-science-based approach.

The information and results are presented in an open-way (related to IPR context in each project) and therefore support social development process.
